Suspect in Kirk Assassination

Suspect in Charlie Kirk Assassination Arrested

Authorities in Utah have announced the arrest of 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson, suspected in the killing of U.S. conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Kirk was shot dead on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University (UVU). He was 31.

According to Governor Spencer Cox, Robinson confessed to a relative, who later helped convince him to surrender. He faces charges of aggravated murder, unlawful use of a firearm, and obstruction of justice — crimes that could carry the death penalty.

Investigators said the shooter used a Mauser rifle with a scope. Bullet casings were found engraved with antifascist slogans and internet memes. Robinson also changed clothes during the attack to mislead police.

The FBI and Utah officials believe he acted alone. Governor Cox also warned of online disinformation, allegedly spread by Russian and Chinese bots in the aftermath of the shooting.

Kirk’s death sparked strong reactions across the U.S. President Donald Trump called him a “great American patriot” and ordered flags flown at half-mast nationwide. Republican lawmakers demanded an inquiry into “radical left networks,” while the Pentagon declared “zero tolerance” for anyone mocking the assassination.

Charlie Kirk was one of the most prominent young conservative leaders in America, speaking on campuses and engaging in public debates. His life and his “American Comeback Tour” were tragically cut short.
